If I want to diddle with the photos, I use Adobe Photoshop, since I took the time an learned the program starting with ADOBE Photoshop 3, now I have Adobe Photoshop CS. Usually I take suitable photos with the camera, and do little post processing, except in special circumstances.
Adobe Photoshop has a steep learning curve, particularly for the novice. I learned from an Adobe "Classroom in a Book", and laboriously did every lesson, until the fundamentals were mastered. It was worth the effort. Adobe allows one to do almost anything with photographs. Photo elements is a scaled down version and is a bit cheaper
I started with Corel the early versions, and got disgusted and quit using it, but some people still use it.
There is other software available that accomplishes the basics with little effort. I have played with several but always relied on Adobe in the final analysis.

I don't use Corel 9 that much mainly because I take great pictures. On occasion it tweaks it nice or adds text where needed.

You have to be a pretty dedicated amateur or have good business reasons to justify the CS price. I agree its a nice program but I have always found the Elements will do what ever I needed.
Of course I usually takes pix that are so good I don't need even Elements !! LOL !![/quote] ____________________________________________________ Elements works fine and will satisfy most users. I started with the early version of PS(3) and 5, 6, 7 and CS are all the same for what parts I utilize.
I have learned not to modify any picture too much on any of the software, particularly when printing. It is impossible to make a Rembrandt from a pigs ear.
