I have absolutely no sympathy for college students when it comes to tuition fees. I live near a college and I rent from Minto, every spring summer and most of fall is party time for these bums. They feel it is their God given right to act out the “Animal House” dream while going to college. These students also rent in my neighbourhood and when they hole their parties there no respect shown to any who has to get a full nights sleep because hey they have a job to go to in the morning. These bums have plenty of money for the rent, beer, liquor, smokes, drugs and oh yes tuition. So to hear then cry for cuts I say increase the fees make Mommy and Daddy pay through the nose. To any student reading this keep your freakin party inside your unit from 11pm til 6am with the balcony door closed as well as all windows. Maybe then you will get more support for your cause of lower fees but as long as you don’t give a damn about decent tax paying Adults why should we show you any respect ?

I don't hate and gratuitously disagree with Akihito, does that make me a lapdog of Imperial Japan?
Grow up, being Canadian is what makes one Canadian, not being anti-American.
Start with this phrase "America who"?? Maybe someday you'll have the capacity to make an independant decision.

The US gets 4-5% of it's petroleum from the ME. It has ample coal resources if it should follow China's route
And where did this fantasy originate. The US exports a surplus...
Based upon what? You know three people from lower Slobobia who hate the US therefore Lower Slobobia hates the US. Besides you would have a hissy-fit if the US bombed Chavez' tent to shut him up......they did do that to Ghadafi---remember?
Because the US is a part of NATO (the largest allied treaty bloc in the world) it has many many allies.
Try being more Canadian and less anti-american. Apply for a waiver and they will let you go to Disneyland.

Quoting sources from the US does not make them valid.
AL GORE is a source.....not reliable either politically or scientifically.
One of the difficulties in establishing Canada's net import/export re food is that these matters are based on $$$$$$$.
It does not take a lot of Chilean strawberries airfreighted into Pearson in January to equal tons of wheat.

A valid point.
Do you recall all the "valid stats" that our government, (Allan Rock specifically) spewed in the Commons during the C68 debate and then when Stats Can was faced with an official query----it appeared that the stats quoted couldn't exist because Stats Can did not compile such data in that format----eg. no specific stats for firearms deaths----whether suicide or homocide....in fact all wrongful deaths were lumped together----shot, strangled, bludgeoned, run over with a pickup......
And then the problem comes in expressing data for import/export for example----is it compiled by tons or $$$$$.
One of the amusing things I have often reflected upon is that regardless whether I was hauling plastic rad caps or computers ($57,000 US/skid) the officials on both side wanted/insisted upon not only a declared value but also the precise weight.

Start with this phrase "America who"?? Maybe someday you'll have the capacity to make an independent decision. Why is that if you point out what is not so good about the US ( and there many many things to comment on) you are always anti- American. I personally know a lot of Americans, a few I call friends and a large number I have nothing to do with because they are loud mouthed arrogant fools. This is often a trait that American people show because they still believe they are "The WORLDS ONLY REMAINING SUPERPOWER". Trouble is that most Americans have never been outside the borders of their country and when they go they make complete asses of themselves Is this an Anti-American observation ?? No!! It is just a fact of life. Just to show how silly they are, last night on CNN I heard a comment that no teacher in the US should have to know Spanish to keep their job because English was the language of the USA. Oops,, another silly yank !! You see although the USA was able to make a constitution that gives all citizens the right to keep and bear arms they forgot to make ENGLISH, the official language of the country. Is this an anti-American comment Nope !! Just a simple statement of fact. Here are a few more: The USA is energy dependant. If everyone cut them off they would die. The USA imports 60% of it's food. More nations than ever hate the US and insult it's leaders. 10 years ago that would not happen today they are so weak they can do nothing to stop those who heckle. They have few is any allies. Britain is now backing away. Non of this is anti-American.....Just good old facts of life. The reality is that many in Canada complain because they are scared to death that their current path is leading to the eventual downfall of the USA The fear is that if they get any weaker we will perish too. Is this anti-American,,,,,NO,,just statements of fact. The black and white paradigm of us vs. them is where I have a problem with anti_Americanism for example, here are a few I've run across. of course there's "you have guns-you sound like an American" "You don't believe in multicult-you sound like an American" "Canadians are peaceful-Americans like war" This is a joke 1914 ring a bell? Boer War? 1939??? I will give you credit though pinoy, you don't tolerate other foreigners either. Most liberal idiots will curse the Yanks then fellate every other foreigner. "Americans are racist but my Hutu friend from Rwanda sits at the right hand of God because he's "exotic"".

Nothing really beyond the fact that Pinoy64 is doing a great job of demonstrating the results of not having a university education.
Some old sayings:
"When ignorance is bliss it is folly to be wise."
"In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king."

Beyond your warped view of reality.......what on earth is the rational basis for this: BS. Shouting silly slogans again? Owning a firearm is being American? Are Suzuki and his canadian fanclub the lapdogs of a faction of the American Democratic party? ?

.... well my take on college is that it's a gamble ... My daughter basically had to know what she wanted to be in grade 8 . I mean in grade 8 is where they pick thier courses for 9 and thier future ... the general , college applicant and university applicant... ( like my old general , 4-yr and 5-yr courses ) . You basically sat down and found your career and worked backwards through the grades so you would have the right credits earned , so you could apply for the college courses you wanted ... WHAT A HEADACHE !!!! ... you have all the manidory subjects needed for each grade , then depending on your career you have those credits as well , in order to qualify for college ... Is it worth it , I hope so ... she has chosen restaurant chef , for her 1st year and continues into restaurant management for the next year...and then ... she undecided , she has more options available by getting these courses under her belt ... all I know is I WANT CREAM-PUFFS !!!!... and I'll be working till I'm dead... I guess what I'm saying , is a kid that is 14/15 years old , know what they want to be and WILL THERE STILL BE A DEMAND FOR THAT JOB WHEN THEY GRADUATE .... some 6 or 7 years later ....

...interesting that your son chose " chef training " is he going to specialize when he is done .. My daughter wants to be a pastry chef ... We looked into fast tracking and your right it is very costly . The school that was the closest was Stratford Cord 'unBu ( sp) it's a excellent school with a very high placement rate , but at about 10 grand / year, way to costly for me .. My son is only a year behind her and He is looking at the trades .. and welder or heavy equipment operator .... the high-school that He attends also has a Techenical College in it , so regular students have access to the courses free .. neat eh ...He loves it .. they dabble in automotive, electrical. woodworking/framing, welding , gas fitters etc..They get a variety of choices and what sparks thier interests they can then go on and specialize in the following grade years...I think it is a great program and more schools should offer it...These courses are more designed for students that are not bookworms but hands-on kids.. mine you they still need all thier credits in the required subjects...

My daughter works in a bakery p/t time , and trying to get her to whip up a dessert is like pulling teeth ... " You don't have the right untensils , or the oven is to small " frig she's not cooking for a crowd , just 3 ...

... yes my daughter has moved out , home on weekends hopefully . She does not drive yet , so that wasn't even a option . They need to learn the whole package of independence . Travelling by public transit , ( which because of country living did not have ) . She needs to be responsible for her decisions of meeting new friends , parties and still making it to class . Her finances , or living on KD and Mr.Noodle . Finding a p/t job on or off campus . Asking for help and guidance from reasonable supportive staff before it's really needed . ...as a parent we have hopefully taught all this , so this is our test as to whether we fail or pass . We all want for our kids , success , happiness , and health in life . We want them to achieve there goals and exceed ,all the while developing into mature , responsible adults .. That will have completed the circle for us , and we have passed ..
