.... WELL its just around the corner and some places of employment are recognizing it and some are not  .... since it is not in union contracts and Heritage Day or Flag Day is ( this Friday) , some unions are not honoring it . It would mean that places of employment would be shut down from Thurs-Tues ... .... Just what is happening |

....we don't get Flag Day since we're P/T but the full timers opt'd to lose a sic day in lieu of Family Day so we all get Family Day .... awe poor F/T ..lol

.... this " Family Day Thing " something was terribly wrong . Introduced by the government but gov't employees did not have it off ? They were working and their spouses/kids home Did Harper work , Mcguinty ctv mods !!!! |

I sit in two camps----as an employer and as an employee.
As an employer---this is an expense which results in no goods/services produced for a day's payroll.
As an employee---Although I am not driving currently---I generally get paid by the mile and these stats represent a signifigant drop in pay. 8 hours at the standby rate is generally only 65% of a regular day's run pay. With my preferred 2 day dedicated runs, this results in 2 days work gone for a pitance of 8 hours standby.

Don't ruin my year with that abortion on a pole!!! The Red Ensign is the flag of our Greatest hours and 'flag day' a celebration of failure!!!! Quebec never even accepted our token 'de-anglicisation'. |
