Canadians are all calling off with her head for Ruby Dhalla for immigrant abuse. Immigrant abuse in Canada is a tradition like motherhood and apple pie! Of course she is guilty of nannygate, everyone wanting to do it does it, the problem is don't get caught. Ruby and her family of abusers have been caught and here she is a Parliamentarian and MP who sits in that bastion of law and order trying to look she is the victim. She does not fool the average Canadian so why not admit it and join the family of Canadians who are no different than she is, an abuser.
The thing is that different cultures in Canada each abuse immigrants differently. The confiscation of passports and threats of deportation if immigrants do not do what their benefactors want is as old as the practice. Each immigrant group is at the mercy of the task masters of the industry they were attracted and attached to. Each immigrant who left their homeland had some idea of what they were facing when they left as the grapevines are strong all over this whole earth. Each group knows about the risks and will run them for the economic advantage for a better life they could not find in their home countries.
If one wants to see immigrant abuse each large Canadian city has its story to tell especially the immigrant arrival ports IP: Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal. These cities enterpeneurs and captains of industry made fortunes on the sweated backs of abused immigrants and many of the abusers were immigrants themselves. The abused becoming the abusers repeating the cycle all over again. As for Ms. Dhalla her culture and race within their caste system make it quite acceptable to heap with kind of abuse on what they consider lower caste people and that transcents cultures and colors to the point that it becomes a blur.
Ms. Dhalla has been caught so she should like an abuser caught resign from everything apple pie and Canadian and go back into Bollywood from where she came, a phantasy world where no one is held accountable to begin with.

It all looks like the PC Immigration minister and Mr. Gill are looking forward to Mr. Gill's assention to the seat that Ms. Dhalla is on a perceptional collision course to loose. That is what it is really all about. Perception is 9/10ths of reality whether Ruby Dhalla is innocent or guilty it is that perception that is going to do her in. When Ruby went into politics she knew it was a dirty place with scruitiny levels so high anything is fair game to change the perceptions of people for the benefit of someone else. She would do a number on them no different than they are doing a number on her is the perception that politics is dirty and here in Canada really dirty. The perception that another east indian (Mr. Gill) wants her Liberal party seat for the Conservatives as a Conservative seat is what is going on and the Conservatives have found that crack in Ruby's armour to exploit and they are doing just that.
Moving out of the house ditching her mother and brother now would only make matters worse. Trying to upstage the testimonys of the Filipino nannies by Ruby having her testimony come first is only going to fan the fires as well. It seems there is not much left but for Ruby to take the shellacking and next time, if there is a next time is to mind the company she keeps or lives with and know what is going on there as it can be a career killer. Bollywood Canada is not exactly a coast to coast roaring success for movie actress wannabees with so many fresh faced young starlets ready at every turn to take your opportunities away.

Read this and weep! Mason just delivered a 4 foot loaded explosive torpedo down the throat of Dhalla who put herself in the middle of a minefield with gold old fashioned east indian caste system servant abuse but this time in Canada with the old domestics and nannies never ending situations.
Read the following quotations from the hearing and from here on in you can scratch one two faced Liberal as a result. The Conservatives NDP, Greens and BQ must all be passing out from laughter!
as pasted from the newswires:
A woman who works to protect the rights of caregivers testified before a parliamentary committee on Thursday that she spoke directly with Liberal MP Ruby Dhalla about her possession of a passport belonging to a caregiver living in her home.
Agatha Mason, the executive director of Intercede, a non-profit group that helps immigrant women in Toronto, said she got a call about a year ago from Richelyn Tongson, who was working in the Dhalla home.
Mason testified in Ottawa that Tongson was sobbing because she said Dhalla had her passport and birth certificate and refused to give them back.
Mason said she first phoned Neil Dhalla, Ruby Dhalla's brother, because it was a local number. He told her to call his sister in Ottawa.
Mason, who said she remembered hesitating before making the long-distance call because of Intercede's small budget, recalled that conversation on Thursday for the committee.
"I gave her clear direction she was breaking the law and she had 24 hours in which to return the documents. I remember that clearly."
Mason said the documents were returned the next day, so for her the case was closed, until it resurfaced in the media a few weeks ago.
Mason characterized the phone call as unpleasant, saying Dhalla argued with her and asked whether Mason knew who she was talking to. Mason said she didn't know when she made the phone call that Dhalla was a politician.
Dhalla, the MP for Brampton-Springdale, has denied allegations made by two live-in caregivers that she withheld their passports and paid them only a fraction of the minimum wage. Dhalla said that when Mason phoned, she simply referred the woman to her brother.
When told that Dhalla's recollection of the phone call was different, Mason offered a blunt response.
"She has a conscience. These are one of the occasions when I wish the childhood story of Pinocchio is true," she said, gesturing as if her nose was growing.
Magdalene Gordo, 31, and Tongson, 37, said they were hired in early 2008 to work in Dhalla's family home in Mississauga, Ont., to care for her mother, Tavinder Dhalla.
Liberal committee member Jim Karygiannis said he found Mason's testimony hard to believe.
"This is a witch hunt in a kangaroo court. Ms. Mason said she called Ottawa and she didn't realize when she called the office of Ms. Ruby Dhalla that she was a member of Parliament? Come on, let's get real here," said Karygiannis.
Dhalla may be asked to testify again before the committee, although she is not compelled to appear.
- Does anyone wanna bet if she has the "balls" LOL! to appear after this torpedoing?
- Does anyone think this is going to change how NannyGate is going to operate in the hands of the well to do in Canada as a result of this latest renewal of what has become a renewed revelation?

The most recent calculation for how much abused domestics might have made in Canada's Nannygate Dhalla afair is about $1.28 per hour. Then some nutty politician stands up in Ottawa and tells this land through our glorious media that the nanny-domestic program has some value to Canadians and Canada in terms of eventually getting landed immigrant status and then some day maybe even citizenship. Jeeze, what an incentive every Canadian should be sunjected to in gratitude to become a Canadian! Unabashed servitude! And we send elect these idiots to Ottawa as government to say that.

Canada's mainstream newsmedia wrote in some fashion as follows:
If there's a silver lining in the Ruby Dhalla affair, it may be for the organizations who have long sought better protection for thousands of Filipinas who come to Canada each year to work as nannies and caregivers. Some 100,000 mostly Filipinas is the government figure.
Immigration Minister Jason Kenney is expected to announce improvements to the 1992 federal `Live-in Caregiver' program by the end of the summer, his spokesman says.
And the work of a little-noticed House of Commons immigration committee on temporary foreign workers, of which caregivers are a major category, now is sure to not gather dust.
- End of the newsmedia spin.
It sure did gather a lot of gold dust for the abusers though since 1992. If every nanny in that 100,000 figure since 1992 was abused at some point at less than 1/10th of the minimum wage rounded off to $1.30 per hour the savings in year one (1992) for 100,000 nannies to year 2009 is that it would be that my cheapy LCD calculator ran out of digits and went into error. Those savings the Canadian citizenry should know are for the 5% of Canada's population whose disposable income are at such a high levels they can not only afford the $1.30 hour they can also afford the Ontario minimum wage and still come out smiling as there are tax deductions for using caregivers to provide care for infirm family members too! So if the actual cost to the employer is $1.30 and hour for a nanny it is probably after taxes and the tax return has been filed anway to get all the deductions.
Truly this Dhalla Nannygate afair is not one of Canada's finest hours and points in our history is it? This is servitude at its finest or worst depending what spectrum you fall into of this whole sordid affair. Shame on this and shame on Canada for allowing this.

Pinoy:
You have good points however there would be no use for such a federal program to begin with if all jobs in Canada in all jurisdictions were subject to provincial labour regulations dealing with standard hours of work and minimum wages which would make the federal program un-needed, redundant and under Provincial labour standards jurisdictions where it all belongs to begin with.
This present self interested for the wealthy federal intrustion into a provincial jurisdiction is to benefit the well to do only and does nothing for the youth of Canada being able to get jobs, work en practicum in a field where out population is growing older. As we know not everyone can or wants to go to trade school or university but may opt for motherhood, part time, child and golden ager care and Canada is denying our own residents that.
As for the abuse of what is, sure it is abused by both sides and in cases not at all. My experience though with it in the late 1960s to mid 1970s was with Filipinas in the garment factories where owners seized passports, birth certificates and other private documents to get sex for themselves and for their male children to practice on. The police would do nothing about it when complained to by the Filipinas so I did only to be told by some of my "left" leaning associates that I should do nothing to upset the manufacturers and that I should learn to roll with the punches!
So we need these special federal programs do we here in Canada? I don't think so, neither does the other 90% of Canada's population think so either. Those are old polls from back them.

81 Year Old Filipina revokes her letter of support for Dhalla. Sides with the abused as Dhalla never had her understand what her letter of support was going to be used for. Talk about kicking the 35 year old Ballywood turned Chircopractor turned Member of Canada's Parliament in the teeth while Ruby is down! Just how could an 81 year old malcontent do such a punishing thing?? Imagine that abusing nannies and domestics and now abusing 81 year old gullable senior women too. I think Canadians never mind Ruby's constituents are now beyond words too by now never mind their thoughts. She might be poltical history once the electorate gets to her next time but will it change the laws that allow all these abused by Canada's well to do?? That we just have to see!
