Well at the ripe old age of 91 my Father passed on last night the 29th of July. World War two vet for 7 years, civil servant for 35 years, husband and Father for 55 years+ and a tough old farm boy from Russell Ontario Canada. He never made friends easy but if you got in you were in. To my knowledge he never asked another living soul for help he was always Pop the Rock.
Since Mom passed in 2001 the last 8 years have not been easy. This man of 5' 11" (I'm 5'8") the Rock slowly sliding to perhaps 5"4" or something like that. As I said he was always a hands on guy but after his stroke in 2001 he could not do many of the things you and I take for granted like just signing your name. The stroke never robbed him of his speech or his ability to walk just a very pronounced twitch in his right arm. They both must have trusted me (the younger) as in 2000 they gave me POA on everything plus something you all should know to avoid probate and lawyers. You should be joint on their deed and all bank accounts your parents have....doing this now will ensure an easy transition after the grieving.
