I can't really see any signifigance to 2012.
My calendar here on the wall ends at Dec 31, 2010. Does the world end then?
A more clear and present danger is the threat of Near Earth Objects or a magnetic reversal. Both matters we have as much control of as earth-quakes and climate.
There is a lot of material that indicates a magnetic reversal not a comet nailed the dinos.....started and ended the glaciations....created coal and petroleum....hmmm.
Meanwhile the peaceful folk (sarc) of Iran are attempting to overthrow the peace-loving theocracy(sarc) and join the 20th century with nuclear weapons.

Haiti's biggest problem is 80% illiteracy.
Although there is a medical school, graduating doctors they all leave for elsewhere. It is estimated there are more Haitian Doctors in the US than in all of Haiti.
Most Haitians speak Creole...the elites speak French. Our GG is a shining example of the haitian brain-drain.

...don't believe the end is 2012....
..... as for Haiti , yes it was dreadful I think they are going about it the way , or at least WHAT we see on t.v. ... why for gods sake wouldn't they set up tent cities away from the major disaster zones..with..medical,food,water,washrooms etc ... truck the people there and start cleaning up the area .. the people are swarming the aid trucks and they finally got airport secure ..this aid effort is going to take years IF nothing else happens .. keeping in mind rainy seasons etc ..
